KIWI

GREEK KIWI : In dried form from 4G

China is considered the predominant hinterland of kiwi since ancient times. The most well-known species grown in Greece is called actinidia chinensis. The plant was native to China and travelled after the 19th century in Britain and 1906 in New Zealand. Its name Kiwi comes from the homonymous bird, which is a national symbol of New Zealand where it lives exclusively. This name was taken by kennel Hayward Wright (1873-1959), who experimented with the plants and managed to create the variety that is known today.
In our country, it was first cultivated in 1973 in the plain of Pieria, where it was acclimatised and adapted by acquiring special qualities and is referred to as “fruit of Olympus”, while the “Olymp Kiwi” logo has been approved.
