In the English-speaking world, the word Goji Berry has been used since the beginning of the 21st century as a synonym for “wolfberry”. The word “goji” is the accent of gouqi in Taiwan Hokkien, the official purist Chinese name of the plant, developed in the West for these wolfberry commercial products.

Goji Berry is a rich source of nutrients and amino acids. Goji Berry is considered to be one of the richest natural sources of nutrients. DIETARY VALUE OF DEHYDRATED GOJI BERRY

The dried seeds of goji berry (100 grams) contains a large number of vitamins: C (42 mg), B1, B2 (0.6-1.3 mg), B6, β-carotene (11mg), zinc (2mg), iron (9mg), copper, calcium (112mg), germane, selenium (50μg) and phosphorus (112mg) and E and very important for the human body inorganic potassium salts (1132mg).
The vitamin C content is between 42-100mg, equivalent to the lemon and orange content. It contains 5 unsaturated fatty acids, including linoleic acid, alpha-linoleic acid, palmitic acid, myristic acid.
Saturated fatty acids and its essential oil consist mainly of palmitic acid (saturated), linoleic acid (ω6), myristic acid (saturated), and beta-elemol. It contains phytosterols such as β-sitosterol, and others.
